Description

Dr. Baker's coaching involves building relationships based on honesty, openness and trust. These, in turn, lead to mutual confidence and shared commitment to the coaching effort. Dr. Baker uses a results driven approach with each client taking full ownership and responsibility for setting his/her improvement goals and being accountable for progress toward achieving them. Frequently, clients are asked to complete self-analysis profiles to aid in gaining in-depth knowledge of the client's personality, work and communication styles and relationship skills. In cases involving interpersonal issues, those with whom the client interacts may be asked to complete the same, or similar, profiles.

Results

The results accomplished for each consulting relationship vary according to the issues or problems of each client. Ultimate outcomes have included executivbe, managers and /or group members learning how to develop company strategies ... improve quality ... better manage time and multiple priorities ... delegate work more effectively ... develop better rapport in difficult relationships ... control emotional time bombs such as excessive anger and other emotional outbursts ... improve team planning and scheduling ... plan and conduct more effective meetings ... and become better role models.

Format

Consulting arrangements vary with the type of issues to be resolved. Typically, face-to-face interviews are held with the individual client and three or four people acquainted with the clients issues, such as his/her boss, peers, subordinates, and/or H.R. Manager. In all, three or four face-to-face meetings are held with the client, but most contacts throughout the coaching is handled by weekly phone calls, and special calls if needed. Arrangements for boards, committees and teams are similar. There are face-to-face meetings with each member, with the entire group, and with managers involved with the board, committee or team. The client's number of improvement goals, the difficulty in achieving them and the time available for the client to work on accomplishing the goals determine how long the coaching takes. The primary focus is always on accomplishing the desired results, not the time required.
